Phanny completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiotherapy at the University of Ottawa in 2008. She has since worked in private practice in this beautiful city, offering treatments in French and English. She has experience treating a variety of clients of all ages with acute to chronic pain, sports injuries and postural dysfunction.
Passionate about helping her patients set and achieve realistic goals, Phanny strongly believes in treating the source of the problem and not just the symptoms. Originally from Saskatchewan, Amy Fahlman brings a wealth of experience and valuable perspective to the team. After convocating from the University of Saskatchewan with distinction, she worked in a private practice setting with a strong focus on manual therapy. She mentored with renowned manual therapists across the country, where she developed her keen intuition and feel. She completed a Masters of Clinical Science in manipulative therapy from the University of Western Ontario, and graduated as the top of her class. She has completed her KinetaCore Functional Dry Needling level 2 training. Growing up in the Rockies Alyssa brings her passion for the outdoors to the Active Health
Institute. Before moving to Ottawa to complete he master’s degree in Physiotherapy at the
university of Ottawa she spent her time doing mountain and endurance sports. She mainly
competed as a high-level ski racer for over 10 years where she was introduced to cycling and
running through dryland training. In order to pursue an academic career, she retired from skiing
but continues to this day to spend her summers on the bike. During her bachelor at St.FX
university her passion for competition continued where she swam on the swim team. She also
started honing her skills as a coach through the strength and conditioning program where she
worked with both the men’s varsity football and basketball teams. In her last year of studies,
she was one of a select few in her graduating year to present an honours thesis at the Atlantic
conference for sports and exercise scientists. Now living in Ottawa Alyssa enjoys working in the
region as a physio or one the road with collage sports teams. In her free time you can find her
out on her bike or participating in endurance events such as marathons and Ironman’s.

After graduating from the Master of Science in Physical Therapy program at Queen’s University, Dan worked in northern Ontario where he worked as a physiotherapist while coaching strength and conditioning for adaptive and masters athletes. His previous education includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Health and Education (Honours in Health Promotion) at Laurentian University. During his time at Laurentian, he worked closely with the varsity Cross Country and Track athletes for 4 years. Dr. Sauer’s interest in physical rehabilitation began as a university athlete when he experienced the contrast between quality, individualized treatment and the traditional one-size-fits-all approach. Following his graduation from Queen’s, he continued his education in Toronto at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College.

James completed his Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy from Queen’s University in 2011. He grew up in a small town on Prince Edward Island, where his passion for competitive sports started at a young age. He played competitive hockey, raced on the alpine ski team, and spent every weekend in the summer on his bike. His love for sports grew in high school where he played soccer and ultimately turned down a post-secondary scholarship to play in the U.S. so that he could pursue full-time professional road cycling and mountain bike racing. In 2003, James won the U-23 Canadian National Mountain Biking Championships in Whistler, B.C. and went on to represent Canada at the World Championships in Switzerland that same year.
